A typical day

I know it suits some better than others, but as it turns out for me, being a stay-at-home-mom is the most rewarding thing I've ever used my energy to do.  It actually feels like I'm cheating at life to have it so good.  There's no denying that some days are better than others, but so far each day has had at least one or two moments of unique and undeniable grace.  This was a nondescript weekday in June for which I'm so thankful I can't even see straight.  Excuse me while I go fall into a pit of saccharine cliches about motherhood and other precious musings.

A play-date with Alex and his cozy coupe

What do?

Ah.  ANYTHING I WANT.  I see.

I shall squeak this horn.

And now I'm a Babies R Us model for cozy coupes.

Seriously, call Little Tikes.  I'll wait.

There really is nothing better than a diaper full of sand.

This was actually Moss's first ride in a cart.

He was pretty into seeing huge rows of shiny rainbow things stacked 8 feet tall everywhere he looked.

No one cared who I was until I put on the sippy cup lid.  -Sippy Cup Bane.

This is what happens when you eat beets, blackberries, and peanut butter pears when you're 11 months old.

You look like a crazy person.

Still capable of demure cuteness, though.

Wheeeee I'm purple forever!

Dad's first Father's Day

A beautiful Sunday in San Francisco at the zoo.  Moss took two naps, ate 3 lunches, and only needed one diaper change.  Plus Ben got free admission.  Could not have asked for a better day.  Moss was generally nonplussed, but he's still a little too young to really Do the Zoo.  Next year.  :)

The zoo is right on the ocean, so we hopped across the street and Moss got the full experience (a full 13 years earlier than I saw my first ocean, and a full 24 years earlier than I saw the Pacific).

COLD.

We'll do a proper beach day soon.  I wish I could have let him crawl around and see for himself, but we had no towel, no change of clothes, and an hour drive home.  Still a perfect day.

Not a good camouflage outfit...

No one will find me.

I am the garden.

I am invisible, an apparition.

Crap.

Ok, plan B -- be visible but adorable.

Success.

Moss in boxes

Climbing in and out of box-like areas is a very fulfilling activity for Moss.  I'm just here to encourage his interests.

That last one didn't have a happy ending though -- he decided he wanted to sit upright, but the shelf is only about 12 inches tall (14 tops).  Post-photo, an exceedingly frustrating 3 minutes ensued, ultimately requiring rescue assistance.
